More opportunities

Part of what makes LAMP unique is providing artists with the opportunity to work with faculty outside of their comfort zone. This might mean a classical violinist working and performing alongside a world music specialist; or an opera singer taking in a class in improvisation or jazz. The opportunities available to artists at LAMP varies widely each semester. LAMP residents are able to take part in every academy and masterclass scheduled during their residency.

Angela Hewitt is one of the most respected pianists today in the classical music genre.

Angela also devotes herself to nurturing new talent. Her masterclasses for gifted pianists, both around the world and online, are highly sought-after by both participants and limited-size audience members.

In 2005, Angela launched the Trasimeno Music Festival in the heart of Umbria, Italy of which she is Artistic Director. An annual event, it draws an international audience to stunning venues including the Castle of the Knights of Malta in Magione (near Perugia) on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Seven concerts in seven days feature Hewitt as recitalist, chamber musician, song accompanist, and conductor, working with both established and young artists of her choosing. Involving writers and actors in the programming has been a particular pleasure for her.

Angela will lead a series of masterclasses over three days with attending artists participating in one masterclass session per day. Included in tuition is entrance to Ms. Hewitt’s performance on Sunday 16 March 2025, when she will perform the Goldberg Variations in full - on the day of the 50th anniversary of the first date she performed the Goldberg Variations.
