This amazing double trio program includes two big E-flat piano trios, easily two of the greatest classical period chamber works ever written:  Beethoven’s Trio in E-flat Major Op. 70 No. 2, and Schubert’s Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 100. Schubert’s Trio was premiered on the anniversary of Beethoven’s death (a fact of which Schubert, a pall-bearer at Beethoven’s funeral and one of his most fervent admirers, surely would have been aware).
