Simon Karakulidi - Solo Piano

Born in Siberia in 1997, pianist Simon Karakulidi continued his piano studies in the United States from 2016 until 2022. In the summer of 2022, Simon moved to Germany to learn more about the European musical tradition from Professor Oliver Kern. An accomplished polymath, with interests ranging from poetry to philosophy, he received his Master’s Degree from the Yale School of Music in 2021. Simon is very enthusiastic about American classical music, and is engaged in learning the complete piano works of David Lang and Nico Muhly. He is also passionate about exploring and commissioning new musical directions.
His teachers have included Stanislav Loudenitch, Wei-Yi Yang, and Diego Prigollini.
Simon has been a prize-winner in more than 20 International Piano Competitions. In February 2023, and was awarded First Prize at the Piano Campus Competition in Cergy-Pontoise, France. In addition to the top prize, he also received five Special Awards.
