Lamp’s FREE “A Little Light Music” returns with pianist Chris Au
For the first time since the global pandemic knocked on our doors back in 2020, we are super excited to bring back Lamp’s “A Little Light Music”.
Celebrated for his ‘intimate dialogue between him…and the audience’ (Barrie Examiner), the Australian Ka Long (Chris) Au is a multiple prizewinner of international piano competitions such as the Sound Espressivo Global Competition 2020.
Born in Hong Kong and raised in Sydney, Australia, Chris has performed to spectacular acclaim in Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, the United States, and in Australia. As a student of Margaret Hair, John Perry, David Louie, and Jean Saulnier, he has won full scholarships to the Colburn School, the Glenn Gould School, and the University of Montreal.
He has been nurtured in masterclasses with legendary artists such as Leon Fleisher, Robert McDonald, Marietta Orlov, Marc Durand, Menahem Pressler, and many more.
2023 highlights include the 2023 Takamatsu International Piano Competition, a 6 week Artistic Residence at the Lunenburg Academy of Music and Performing Arts, and a Summer Residence at the Orford Academy.
Although he continues to suffer from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (since the age of 16), he is unfazed and envisions his career performing, teaching, collaborating in chamber music, and elucidating the storytelling and rhetoric of music as a communicator.
Reservations are not required for this free concert. All are welcome - the doors will open at 6:30pm.
